Welcome to House Union Block (HUB), where original South African art meets visionary design. Founded in 2020 as an initiative of Spier Arts Trust, HUB co-creates design spaces with art that tells local stories to inspire, and uplift.
Headquartered at the historic Union House building in Cape Town’s vibrant CBD, our mission is simple: to inspire designers and architects and facilitate unique, world-class collaborations with fine artists. Through long-established relationships with hundreds of professional artists across South Africa, we offer an extensive catalogue of contemporary art that caters to a range of tastes and budgets.

- Through partnerships with organisations like Clout/SA, we ensure a diverse and vibrant supply of custom-made design objects and surface coverings in bead and mosaic mediums, depending on their interior and exterior applications.
- Our master artisans, operating under HUB Studios are dedicated to artisanal excellence and professionalism, and have been co-creating with architects, furniture designers, pattern makers and fine artists since 2011.
- Partnering with designers and architects, we bring design concepts to life through mosaic, bead and embroidery production, crafted with precision and passion.

Spier Arts Trust
The Spier Arts Trust's mission is to facilitate successful art careers by enabling freedom of creative expression with the potential for social transformation.
We source art through an ecosystem of career development opportunities for fine artists, including collaborations with House Union Block, Creative Block, The Keiskamma Art Project and Qaqambile Bead Studio.
At the heart of our commission offering is the collaboration between fine artists and skilled artisans, fostering personal empowerment and contributing to equitable co-existence. By negotiating resources in a way that amplifies different voices and engages power and relational dynamics, this co-creative process has the potential to effect personal transformation and social agency.

HUB Gallery
House Union Block (HUB) is an artist career development programme of Spier Arts Trust (SAT). Since 2020, HUB offers fine artists an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work. HUB offers an extensive catalogue of South African contemporary art that is diverse in content and price, to give professional artists (not affiliated with galleries) new opportunities for success.
HUB’s services include collaborations between fine artists and professionals working in the interior design and architecture industries, including site-specific commissions. HUB connects fine artists with skilled artisans from various affiliate studios, including
HUB Mosaic Studio, Keiskamma Arts Project and Qaqambile Bead Studio, some of which are also based at Union House.
Sisonke Gallery
Situated at the Cape Heritage Hotel on the lively Bree Street precinct, the Sisonke Gallery was created to promote & uplift local artists. Sisonke means "togetherness" and this is the gallery's aim - to form relationships with artists and be a platform to showcase meaningful works within our space.
